WAKULLA - Video
(The Mammoth Cave)
An
international team of American and British cave divers explore the mysteries
of Wakulla, an underground spring in the swampland of northern Florida.
Mammoths, mastodons, bears and giant sloths all inhabited this huge
cave many centuries ago.
Using
modern day diving equipment the team go over 5OOOft back into this cave
at the extraordinary depth of 3OOft.
Expedition
leader Bill Stone uses a prototype re-breather which allows him to spend
24 hours underwater. A habitat is sunk to 100 feet below the surface
where the divers can decompress in comfort. It even boasts a telephone
from which they can order hamburgers, fried chicken, and after dinner
drinks.
