Matterhorn

MATTERHORN – Video
The North Face in Winter
The Matterhorn’s classical shape is everyone’s idea of what a mountain should look like and its elegant ridges and bristling outcrops command the respect of every climber.

Three British mountaineers set off up the North Face over a hundred years after it was first climbed by the Victorian pioneer Edward Whymper. The film recreates part of this tragic ascent when four of his team fell 4,OOOft to their deaths.

The modern expedition is also plagued by problems as Eric Jones falls and only manages to stop himself on the brink of a huge drop. Then the worst storm ever recorded in Zermatt strikes the Matterhorn and the team are forced to continue their climb through terrible thunder and lightning.
